Want me to shoot you in New York City?

Not literally! I'll be up in New York City April 30- May 3. I have a few shoots set up already but I'd love to add a few more. So if you are in New York e-mail me and we'll see if we can coordinate a time!

Biggest. Douchebag. Ever.

I could write an novella on this mess but when I was walking through JFK Wednesday I thought this New York magazine cover summed up my sentiments with stunning eloquence.

My first cover!!!

I was walking through Barnes and Noble picking up some books and magazines for my next adventure (more on that later!) when a photo of a lovely and familiar couple caught my eye. I just about choked on my own tongue as I realized about 5 seconds later I had taken the cover photos.... lol! I was interviewed for a story on destination weddings for Elite Wedding Collection magazine a few months back and had also submitted some photos for them to use. I didn't realize the issue was for sale already! It's the spring/summer edition. A photo I shot in Tulum, Mexico of Terry and Jiaying is on the cover and on the inside is the beautiful photo of Meg and Ben taken in Jamaica. It's my first magazine cover for a national publication so I'm going out with some friends tonight to celebrate. It meant so much to me to see the cover in the bookstore. It has been a primary goal of mine since I was a preteen to see my photos in magazines. Feels awesome.

The cover!

Call me!

I kept my original phone number (585-576-0251) but I have replaced my phone with the new iphone. My old phone has gone to its' final resting place and unfortunately I was not able to retrieve the phone number in it or any voicemails that I may have received in the past few days. So call me so I can save your number in my new phone! And if you left a voicemail in the past 3-4 days call back, I wasn't ignoring you- I just never received your message!

A huge honor...

A few months back I was contacted by Jay Mallin who was writing a story about destination weddings for the photography trade publication PDN (Photo District News): a publication I began worshipping back in photo school at the Rochester Institute of Technology. I submitted some photos after the interview and I was so excited to see the photo of Yara and Khamen that I shot in Puerto Rico was chosen as the lead image for the story along with a supporting picture of Gordon and Debbie from their wedding I shot in Mexico back in February! Being recognized in PDN is a huge accomplishment for me. It's the April issue, below is the article titled "A Marriage Made Abroad."

Destinations was a success!

Thanks so much to everyone who attended the show Gary Ventura, Erich Camping, and I held at Booksmart Studio in Rochester. The opening was a lot of fun and I was amazed with the turnout! We will definitely be doing another show in the future. I'm hoping we can fill the gallery with sand and have steel drums next time. :) The show is coming down tomorrow. I had work from Aleta and Deji's wedding in Mexico, Ben and Meg's wedding in Jamaica, Yara and Khamen's wedding in Puerto Rico, and Ryan and Kristen's wedding in Jamaica displayed at the show. I will be contacting these couples to see if they are interested in the opportunity to purchase these huge (20x30 inches and 30x40 inches) mounted photos that are ready to hang on the wall. They are stunning! I might keep a few for my office.
Here's a photo of Erich in the doorway at the opening.

You are cordially invited....

Erich Camping, Gary Ventura, and I are having a show at the Booksmart Studio gallery space at 250 N. Goodman Street in Rochester. Everyone and I mean everyone (that means YOU reading this!) is invited to the opening Friday February 15 from 6-9pm. It's going to be a great party- think Bob Marley tunes and all the rum punch you can drink. The show is dedicated to our destination wedding work. We are hoping the work will jolt all of us Rochestarians out of our seasonal affective disorder, at least for one night!

Brrrrr! Getting out of New York just in time.

The meteorologists are forecasting extremely cold temperatures in the next few days (10 degrees on Sunday!) so I'm thrilled to be heading off to Puerto Rico for Eric and Selena's wedding. It's going to be nice to see sun again. I'll be back to reality on Monday.

The Digital Wedding Forum convention in Tampa, Florida

January 4-7 I was in Tampa, Florida for the Digital Wedding Forum convention. It was a great experience and my first wedding photography convention. It was great to meet photographers from all over the country (and the world!) and to attend some great seminars presented by some of the leading photographers in the industry.

I have so many phenomenal weddings on the books for next year. 2008 is primed to be my best year ever. I'm traveling all over the USA and the world! My season starts in Puerto Rico in January. E-mail problems

If anyone has e-mailed me in the last week or two and has not received a reply it 's because my web hosting is having some issues. Normally you can expect to hear back from me in 24 hours (or less) unless I'm traveling. Please feel free to call me 585.576.0251 in the meantime and hopefully this issue will be resolved within the next few days.

Brides Magazine "Something Pink"

I was so pleased to be invited to the Brides Magazine "Something Pink" party to kick off the campaign. "Something Pink" is a multitiered fund-raiser designed to benefit the Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation, which grants wishes to women with Stage IV breast cancer. The party was very memorable (see some pics below) with live models wearing designer gowns that all incorporated pink, pink cocktails (of course!), and an incredible turnout. If you are in New York take advantage of the three day gown sale Brides is holding October 4, 5, and 6th at the Lotus Space in Chelsea. There will be thousands of designer gowns heavily discounted. For more info check out http://www.brides.com/promo/somethingpink/.

I love New York!

I made a quick trip down to New York earlier this week to attend the Brides Magazine "Something Pink" event in Chelsea. I had some time to walk around Times Square before the party and happened upon these teens awaiting a glimpse of Ryan Sheckler (I had to google him to find out who he was, I must be getting old!) who was apparently being interviewed during TRL at MTV. Only in New York!

Check out Meg and Ben in Brides!

I just back from Carlos and Maria's incredible wedding in Puerto Rico to find the Brides Magazine Honeymoons & Weddings Away guide on sale! The spread looks great! It's such a great feeling to be published nationally again. So, if you're a Brides reader take a look at page 138-139 for the feature on Meg and Ben's wedding in Jamaica last year.

Check out Allison and Roopesh in the Summer 2007 edition of Elegant Bride!

I photographed Allison and Roopesh's beautiful rehearsal dinner and wedding last September in Bermuda. I was thrilled when the photos editor at Elegant Bride contacted me requesting images for a full page spread of photos from the rehearsal for their "Party Scene" feature! If you're an Elegant Bride reader or if you want to check it out in the store it's page 130!

E-mail

I've been having a few problems with people e-mailing me and not receiving my replies lately, so I just wanted to write to let you all know: I'm a compulsive e-mail checker (really, I have a problem) and if you don't receive a response back from me in 24-48 hours feel free to give me a call (585-576-0251) to check in- I probably either never received your initial inquiry or responded and you didn't receive it.

Melissa and Jonathan's album!

Just a few pics of Jonathan and Melissa's album from their beautiful wedding last September. This is an example of a matted album, for those couples trying to decide between a matted album and a coffee table style album. It turned out great!

Ed and Ali's album

I just received Ed and Ali's wedding album and I wanted post photos to give them a little preview of the album before it arrives and also to show off more examples of a matted style album for bride's who are considering matted over coffee table style album. Matted books are generally considered to be more traditional but as you can see with Ed and Ali's I designed it with a contemporary flair!

Look at my new matted album sample!

I'm thrilled with my new matted album sample, so I snapped a few shots of it to show it off. The photos are from Terry and Jiaying's awesome wedding in Tulum, Mexico last November. The great colors really play off the yellow album cover just how I'd envisioned. There are many colors and different types of leather and fabric available for these albums. It was fun to play with something a little different for a sample album! This particular album I chose black pages with a white border around the image, there are a couple different options for page color and border color as well. Feel free to e-mail or call me with any questions about these books! The parent sized albums make great gifts!
