Alex and Taryn's wedding was held at the Four Seasons in charming and beautiful Nevis, West Indies. Both the couple and the Four Seasons did an amazing job. One of Taryn's friends asked me how I thought the photos turned out the day after the wedding and we both had a little laugh because honestly it would have been difficult to take a bad picture of such a beautiful, well planned wedding in such an extraordinary setting. Bride's Magazine agreed and they will feature Taryn and Alex's wedding in their December issue.

Ok, so Henry is not a baby anymore...but have you seen two more beautiful, joyful children before? It warmed my heart to be around them. Henry and Vivian are the children of Dan and Laura whose wedding I photographed several years ago. It was great to see their family so happy! These simple, sweet portraits were taken in their backyard the day before I headed out to San Francisco (photos to come). Oh Henry... what a love. His beautiful sister Vivian, who was just a tiny little one that last time I photographed her last year.

Last weekend I had a very memorable (they always are, lol) trip to New York City. Part of the weekend I spent with Cary and Karen whose wedding I will be photographing in October. It was great to meet them before the wedding and to play in New York. It was a little chilly but we had fun regardless. Thanks Cary and Karen! One of the reasons I have fun shooting in big cities... the crowds. I love this guy on the phone with Cary and Karen in the background. You can't pose this stuff. We took the ferry to Dumbo for this shot with the Manhattan skyline as the backdrop. On the ferry. Does this look familiar? Not bad, right? I think the banana peel on the right makes this shot for me... Hell,yes- I'll see you guys October 4!

Today I received a nice surprise from Cary and Karen whose wedding I'm shooting in Vermont in October. Thanks guys, this is the coolest Save the Date I have ever seen- hands down.
I was cleaning out my storage unit today and I found a bunch of my old photos from high school. I thought I'd share a few vintage shots with you, they definitely made me smile. I shot this in Merida, Mexico when I was 15. I started taking photos when I was 12, but the trip to Mexico convinced me I wanted to explore photography as a career. Another from the same trip. My cousin's wedding in Pennsylvania. I shot this before prom. I shot this photo during a journalism workshop at Michigan State University when I was 16. I found these kids playing in front of their house in Lansing.

It's been beautiful weather for portraits the past several days! I stopped by Gracie and Charlie's home this week to see how Charlie had changed since the newborn shots I took of him. I will be in town (more than usual) over the next few weeks so if you'd like a portrait session let me know. My sitting fee is $200. Some photos from our shoot below: Love baby hands and feet. Charlie is now 4 months old. So adorable... he didn't know what to make of the camera he just kept staring at it! Gracie with her gorgeous curls giving me her rockstar pout. It's so fun being around kids of all ages. She went from this face, to the one below in about 30 seconds, literally. Lol... Look at his perfect little face... almost makes me want one.... almost. I love the Caribbean: I'd love to take a month or two and just island hop. Every island has such a distinct flavor. I can't wait to explore it more! In May I'll visit Nevis for the first time for Taryn and Alex's wedding- I can't wait! A decal on the side of a car. The capital, Willemstad. Curacao is in the Dutch Antilles and still maintains a Euro feel. One more reason to love the Caribbean: pirates. The streets of Willemstad. Love the color in the islands...

It was surreal... and one of very few things I could be happy to get out of bed at 4 am to see! I stood in the rain and and watched the clouds lift revealing the ruins at Machu Picchu. I wanted to scream and squeal, but everyone was so quiet so I just screamed in my own head. Thank you, thank you, thank you to who ever was passing out the multipacks of ponchos. The color makes the photo. Look how few people were there! It was amazing and the experience was so enhanced because the ruins were not overrun with tourists. The guardhouse. What I saw when I arrived early in the am. The steps where crops were grown. Whoa... yeah don't get to close to the edge.

I hope that doesn't offend anyone! I'm usually not much of a meat eater but when I was in Peru last week I had to try one of their specialities: guinea pig. I had guinea pig confit at the the amazing Ciccioliona in Cusco followed by the trout, which was phenomenal. If you are headed to Cusco you must dine at Cicciolina- everything about it was exceptional. I couldn't have asked for a better birthday celebration. I went to Peru mainly to see Manchu Picchu- I have to say that I fell in love with South America. It was my first visit to the continent and I will be going back as soon as possible- maybe to Argentina or maybe Brazil! Peru was breathtaking and compared with Egypt I felt very safe. The people were incredible and sweet- all around just a great trip. I had already started planning my next trip to South America before I had even left Peru! Below are some shots from Cusco, in the next few days I'll post my photos from Machu Picchu. Me too... They are so into guinea pig in Peru that they had "The Last Supper" painted by a Spanish artist in the 1500s and Christ has none other than a guinea pig on his plate... This painting was on display at own of the churches in the Plaza de Armas in Cusco. Inca everything... even cola. It tasted a lot like bubble gum. Main square, Cusco. Church, Cusco. Little cuties in Cusco. Wandering Cusco. School kids, Cusco.

I submitted some photos after the interview and I was so excited to see the photo of Yara and Khamen that I shot in Puerto Rico was chosen as the lead image for the story along with a supporting picture of Gordon and Debbie from their wedding I shot in Mexico back in February! Being recognized in PDN is a huge accomplishment for me. It's the April issue, below is the article titled "A Marriage Made Abroad." The cover. My photo from Yara and Khamen's wedding. But it's 100 degrees there now and it's the trip of a lifetime. I will most likely be without e-mail for the duration of the trip (I'm back March 19). I will be able to receive calls at 585-576-0251. Can't wait to share the experience and the photos!

Last weekend I traveled to a remote area in the beautiful Dominican Republic for Liz and Jed's wedding. Las Terrenas was truly a special place, right up my alley. The natural beauty and relaxed atmosphere was amazing. Thanks so much to Liz and Jed for sharing it with me! I am very blessed to have incredible couples to work with, it never ceases to amazes me how lucky I am. It was great getting to know Jed, Liz, their family, and friends over the weekend. It was a heartfelt event- that along with the natural beauty of the area was inspiring to me. The beautiful bride. We did portraits before the ceremony, which ended up working perfectly. The light was incredible, plus we had plenty of time to play. The palm trees where unreal. See what I mean?? A tourist on the beach giving me some competition. Great hallway at the Atlantis Hotel. Can you believe that sky? Stephen led the very touching ceremony. Sunset at the beach. Cutting the cake. Thanks so much Liz and Jed! I hope you are having an incredible time in Buenos Aires.

I was walking through Barnes and Noble picking up some books and magazines for my next adventure (more on that later!) when a photo of a lovely and familiar couple caught my eye. I just about choked on my own tongue as I realized about 5 seconds later I had taken the cover photos.... lol! I was interviewed for a story on destination weddings for Elite Wedding Collection magazine a few months back and had also submitted some photos for them to use. I didn't realize the issue was for sale already! It's the spring/summer edition. A photo I shot in Tulum, Mexico of Terry and Jiaying is on the cover and on the inside is the beautiful photo of Meg and Ben taken in Jamaica. It's my first magazine cover for a national publication so I'm going out with some friends tonight to celebrate. It meant so much to me to see the cover in the bookstore. It has been a primary goal of mine since I was a preteen to see my photos in magazines. Feels awesome. The cover! Inside photo.
